Our Mission & Vision
We help parents and children share the joy of reading at home. Our boxes contain all of the tools caregivers need to run a book club for their kids. Lit League boxes are designed by a team of educators to nurture a lifelong love of reading by providing children with positive experiences. Our fun-filled boxes give parents the tools to celebrate reading at home, while supporting what takes place at school.
Giving Back
We understand how important reading is to a child’s success. Yet, in America two out of three children living in low-income homes have no books of their own. That’s why a portion of Lit League’s proceeds are donated to Bernie’s Book Bank, an organization that provides books to kids in need.
Our Story
We are three moms: two educators and one strategic project manager. We share a love of reading and an active desire to create enriching experiences for our children, and for yours. Between us we have six children (two boys and four girls) ranging in age from 4 to 10, so we are in the thick of it with you.
Two of us are credentialed teachers, one with an M.S. in Secondary English Education from Northwestern University and the other an M.A. in Education from Pepperdine University and an M.A. in Literature from U.C. Irvine. Between us, we have experience teaching everything from kindergarten to college, so we know how to incorporate Common Core standards and highlight a variety of educational skills within our boxes.
Lauren and Christina met as high school English teachers in Santa Monica. Working across the hall, we regularly collaborated, planning out the courses we taught in common. Then we had our first babies and formed a weekly play group. The group took on various forms as the years passed and other children came, but it always involved intentionally making memorable moments with our kids, often through planned educational fun that ranged from baby and toddler science time to art projects and even educational field trips.
Lauren and Cece grew up together in the suburbs of Chicago, bonded by the shared passions of biking, swimming, and sleepovers. We have kept in good touch over the years, so when Lauren returned to Chicagoland, we began a book club for our then kindergarteners. The great success of that club led to the development of Lit League.
The three of us are proud lifelong learners and we hope to pass on this passion to our children, and to yours. We are excited to share our combined love for learning and reading through these boxes which will provide enriched reading experiences and quality fun for your children, and for your entire family!

“I have taught English and reading in high school and middle school for over fifteen years. I know too well how many kids dislike reading by the time they reach their teens and how important the skill of reading is for a child’s academic future. When I had my own children, I wanted to ensure that they had a variety of positive, fun-filled reading experiences outside of school. I wanted to help them fall in love with reading. So I called a few friends and started our first Lit League book club. Years later, we want to give parents across America the tools to run their own book clubs and to help kids discover the joy of reading.”

“I was introduced to the children’s book club idea by my dear friend, Lauren Fairchild. Our daughters were five years old when we began their book club. As a full-time working mother of two, I didn’t have the time, the background, or, quite frankly, the patience to create book club activities for my children at home. So, the idea of making Lit League a so-called “one stop shop” for busy parents was appealing to me. Four years later the proof is in the pudding. My daughter is hooked on reading, addicted to her bookclub “playdates,” and entirely enthralled with the adventurous activities that come with the books.”

“I’ve always loved reading and teaching, and knew from a young age that my future career must include both. Serving as an educator in various capacities since college, my experiences range from an initial role as an America Reads tutor in a kindergarten class to teaching high school English for eight years (with courses ranging from ESL to AP Literature) to now eight years teaching composition and creative writing at the college level. When I had children of my own, instilling a love of reading was a top priority. But reading didn’t come easily for my first-born, so I had to find creative ways to keep reading fun even when it proved a challenge. Now, as a third grader, my daughter confidently reads chapter books on her own and has become like me when I was a kid, staying up to read with a flashlight long after lights out. I love that I now have to force her to stop reading, and I hope our boxes will help even the most reluctant readers discover the magic that can only be found in a good book.”
